Store Gives School A Sporting Chance
In the first week of June, the SPAR store in Aberfeldy donated a special ‘SPAR’ sports day kit to Breadalbane Academy, and visited the school on the Primary’s Sports day to cheer the pupils on.
Local SPAR store manager, Alison Hart, commented “It’s great to see children getting out of the classroom, having some fun and getting some exercise. We hope our SPAR kit helped make this sports day as enjoyable as possible, and will encourage them to exercise regularly.”
Store staff also joined in the fun of the sports day with Lorraine Gardener from SPAR showing her sporting prowess in both the egg & spoon race and the sack race! |

This opportunity is offered by SPAR UK to local schools and youth clubs across the country. This year, SPAR retailers, over 70% of who already support their local schools, are issuing these special athletics kits to community schools and youth sports clubs all over the country.
Kits Available
The kit provides all the elements a school needs to put on a professional sports day, containing: competing numbers for every child, posters, certificate templates for the winners, finish tapes for each event and a giant welcome banner.
Over 4000 kits have been issued since the initiative was launched in 2004, and over ¼ million school kids have benefited.
Those interested in securing a SPAR sports day kit for their local school are encouraged to contact the owner of local SPAR stores in Pitlochry, Strathtay, Birnam, and Blair Atholl, or to e-mail sportsdaykits@spar.co.uk
