Kwik Cricket - Just The Ticket!

If anyone doubts the enthusiasm of youngsters in Scotland to play cricket, they needed to see the pleasure and enjoyment experienced by the Junior Schools of Highland Perthshire, in the third Annual Kwik Cricket Festival.
The tournament, organised by the Highland Perthshire Sports Trust (HPST) in association with Breadalbane Cricket Club, saw teams from schools in Pitlochry, Aberfeldy, Kenmore and Grandtully play out a thrilling Kwikcricket tournament at Victoria Park, Aberfeldy (home of Breadalbane Cricket Club) on Wednesday 13 June.

Kwik Cricket is a fast, fun version of the game, played with a soft ball. The aim is to teach boys and girls, of primary school age, the basic skills of the game, whilst hopefully giving them the chance to experience cricket as a team sport.
HPST, working within the schools and with the support of forward-looking clubs like Breadalbane of the Strathmore Cricket Union Premier League, ensure children of all ages and levels of skill can experience the game.
The tournament organiser, Andrew Lawson, of the HPST, said: “The standard of the players seems to be getting better every year”.
After a hard fought festival of cricket, in which each side played at least 3 games over the course of the day, Breadalbane Academy A side emerged the eventual champions.
Breadalbane Cricket Club captain, Mark Bowler, presented the trophy to the winning team and remarked: “No matter how much practice you do, it’s always the games that you play in that stay in your memory”.
Judging by the faces of all the participants, they will remember their day of cricket for a long time.
