Aberfeldy Bowling - June Performances

Saturday 2 June. Friendly Annual match. One ladies and three gents rinks of the Club played rinks from Burrelton at Aberfeldy. Burrelton won by 87 shots to Aberfeldy’s 71. This was Aberfeldy bowlers’ first defeat of the season in the annual friendly matches.

Wednesday 6 June (North Perthshire League) Bowlers travelled to Dunkeld and won by 63 shots to 74.

Saturday 9 June (Annual friendly match) Aberfeldy played Moulin four rinks at Aberfeldy and won 69 shots to 45.

Wednesday 13 June (Annual friendly match) Aberfeldy played Crieff at Victoria Park winning by 65 to 41 shots.

 

Sundays 10 and 17 June The Aberfeldy Triples, sponsored by Sideys of Perth and Dewars Whisky, were held over the two Sundays with 21 Triples participating. Owing to heavy rain flooding the green on the 17 during the semi-final it was stopped for safety reasons. These will now be completed, along with the final, on Sunday 1 July.

Wednesday 20 June (North Perthshire League) Aberfeldy travelled to Blair Atholl and won by 74 shots to 57.

Friday 22 June A Fun Night was held at Aberfeldy. The winning rink was F Conlan, J Shearer, Ian McComish and R McRobert. The close seconds were G Bassett-Smith, C Lambie, B Rutherford and P Woolley. The strongest rink, which held up all the others, was M Carr, C MacDougall, M Black and A Woolley.

Sunday 24 June (Bankfoot Triples) P Woolley (Aberfeldy BC), Frank Conlan (Aberfeldy BC) and G McGregor (Kinnoull BC) won the Bankfoot Triples.

Monday 25 June, Tuesday 26, Thursday 28 and Friday 29 June (Leszke Trophy, sponsored by William Leszke) 16 members took part, the winner was Frank Conlan beating Duncan McDougall. The cup and shield were presented to the winner and runner up by Willie Leszke.

Wednesday 26 June (North Perthshire League) Aberfeldy bowlers travelled to Spittalfield and won by 6 points to 2 points, shots: Aberfeldy 69, Spittalfield 23.

Friday 29 June (Blackadder Pairs sponsored by the Blackadder sisters) Twelve pairs of Aberfeldy bowlers took part and, following the postponement of the semi-final on 24 June, due green flooding, the semi-final and final were played on 29 June. Club members were delighted that Mary Carr was the third Blackadder daughter to win the trophy established in memory of her father.
