Youth Football Initiative for Highland Perthshire
An exciting new initiative to provide opportunities for young footballers aged 8-16 in the Highland Perthshire area is soon to be launched.
The scheme, led by Breadalbane Amateur Football Club and Strathtay Boys Club, will see four new teams competing in the Perthshire youth football leagues in season 2007-08. These will build on the popular sessions (see picture) currently held by Strathtay Boys in Grandtully and the work already done this season in Aberfeldy, where Under-14 and Under-15 teams have been competing in the Perthshire leagues |

The new Breadalbane/Strathtay Football Club will include sides playing at Under-10, Under-12, Under-14 and Under-16/17 levels.
The U10 and U12 sides will compete in 7-a-side competition, while the U14s and U16s will play full 11-a-side matches. The three younger teams will play their home games in Grandtully, while the U-16/17s will compete at the Breadalbane Amateur ground in Aberfeldy.
As preparation for the new season, a variety of events is planned for the coming months. Dates for young footballers to mark in their diaries are:
Sat 28 April: a tournament for P6/P7 pupils from local schools
Sat 12 May: a tournament for P4/P5 pupils from local schools
Wed 2 May: an S1/S2 Breadalbane v Pitlochry schools match
Wed 16 May: an S3/S4 Breadalbane v Pitlochry schools match
From these games the selection process for next season’s youth programme will hopefully begin, with further events and training sessions scheduled for the summer.
