St Modan's Match Abandoned
Breadalbane CC vs St Modans
Premier League 18 August

A combination of heavy rain and heavy vehicles in Victoria Park for the Highland Games and Show had churned and rutted the surface so deeply and so badly that no cricket will be possible for the rest of the season.
Only a sustained effort of levelling, rolling and re-seeding, combined with the healing effects of time, will make the Park suitable for Premier League cricket again. Accordingly, the team was unable to erect nets or train properly during the week, in the run up to the fixture and travelled to Broughty Ferry with storm clouds gathering.
It was a testament to the team spirit in the club, that the Breadies bowled and fielded with great tenacity, restricting the opposition to 146 for 7 after 43 overs before the skies opened.

Andy Jacobs claimed two wickets, Chris Eyes bowled 9 overs for only 14 runs and fantastic catches from Darren Mortimer and Andrew Duncan-Millar were all to no avail, as the match was abandoned due to the heavy rain, with the Breadies in a winning position.
Unfortunately, the rain also meant the cancellation of the Sunday fixture too, without a ball being bowled, and despite all the Breadies efforts to secure an alternative ground at Doocote Park in Perth where the remainder of the home matches of this season will be played - weather permitting.
