Huntly Exacts Premier Revenge
Strathmore & Perthshire Premier Division
Breadalbane CC vs Huntly CC Saturday 28 July

The Breadalbane first team’s topsy turvy season continued with a home clash against title contenders Huntly, from far off Aberdeenshire.
Earlier in the summer The Breadies had travelled to Huntly and whooped the home side, and history appeared to be repeating itself as, at the interval, everything was again going Breadalbane’s way.
Mortimer had smashed 49 out of the 56 runs scored before misstiming a slower delivery and was timidly caught and bowled. Chris Eyes (37) and Andrew Duncan - Millar, showing a return to form, hit an unbeaten 37. But it was largely another magnificent innings of 79 no, from prodigy Laurence Bax that pushed the total to 215 for 4 at tea.

Huntly set about the run chase methodically, if slowly. Their score edged up slowly as did their run rate required as tight bowling and ground fielding kept the lid on the reply. Once again, however, Breadalbane contrived to drop vital catches and wickets were not coming.
Azir Ali the Huntly pro played patiently to begin with but when he was joined by the visiting skipper Mark Massie the sparks began to fly. The Aberdeenshire side averaged 8 an over from their last 10 overs vanquishing the ’Feldy men in the process and extracting sweet revenge for the defeat earlier in the year.
