In contrast to the 1st XI, the Breadie’s 2nd team still has plenty to prove and plenty of cricket still to play. By a quirk of fate the two’s travelled to Forfar to face the Strathmore 2nd’s. It was more than fate, more a case of deja vu for the visiting Breadies, as Strathmore progressed to a total just 3 more than they had scored the previous day, finishing on 227 for 9.
Langhorn 2 for 31 and Powrie 2 for 25 were the pick of the Breadie bowlers. Strangely Breadalbane’s reply almost replicated that of the previous day as the Highland Perthshire batters could only muster 144 for 8. Instead of losing, however, the Breadies were able to draw the match in a league where the draw is still an option, thus gaining a valuable 11 points in the process. None of the Breadalbane batsmen really impressed. Jamie Coventry did, though, record his best score for the club in blasting a belligerent 27. |
